FALL BANDING VISITORS

 

BANDER

Paola Rossi is an orthithologist with the Chilean governement and works with the newly formed Chilean bird banding program. The Canadian and Chilean governments have an international agreement to work on environmental issues of mutual concern and migratory birds has featured strongly in these cooperative efforts. Paola is in Canada for two months training to advance her bird banding skills. She will become one of Chile's primary bird bander trainers and will start a migration station for monitoring, research and education.

 

 

 Banding Visitor

Lesley Howes is a Bird Banding Biologist with the Canadian Wildlife Service. She works in the Migratory Bird Populations Division - Bird Banding Office. Her current activities:
  • Provide science-based coordination and organization of the Canadian component of the North American Bird Banding Program.
  • Identify and evaluate the scientific needs of the North American Bird Banding Program and, with other scientists, develop or promote the development of new scientific tools, approaches, and program information.
